Mr.Bowery's Weekly Letter to Parents - May 01,2020

Good morning, everyone. Ramadan Kareem
Another week of lockdown over with, the month of May arrives, and the first week of Ramadan begins. Ramadan is a time of self-sacrifice and sharing and it is never easy keeping a ‘normal’ life pattern going during this period.

It is even harder this year so many changes to cope with. One thing is for certain, you need to restrict the sharing aspect to your immediate household. Please protect yourself and others by maintaining the lockdown until we are sure we can socialize again.
As for school life, we have to try and maintain it throughout this period. It is getting more complicated with some parents returning to work and schools remaining closed.
It would be easy to give up and say ‘I am finished’, but we have to keep going for the sake of the children. We have put back the times of the Zoom sessions (as we would have done for lesson times if the school was open) and we are looking to record some sessions for Y1-3 pupils whose parents are returning to work. However, we have to maintain as much normality as possible.
Teachers have families as well and I am sure they would like to sleep longer and work less but, as professionals dedicated to your children, they are actually working harder now. The average teacher in Y1- 8 has over 80 Homeworks to set and mark.

They have 6-8 Zoom sessions a week to prepare for and I am asking them to do Staff Training with Cambridge on-line. Most staff are completing unseen sessions with Cambridge on teaching strategies and IGCSE training. Everyone will be in an excellent position when we reopen.
This is what the school is providing you with even though we might not be physically in the school building.
I thank you for your understanding and support. We will be stronger when we start again

Mr. George
