Mr.Bowery's Fourth Letter to Parents

Another week has passed by and we are another week closer to ending the lockdown .. inshallah.

This next week will be an important week for our school work. We have started our stories for people to listen to. This is the link to access them

The Art Competition is running and Ms Angie will be starting an exciting Music competition soon.

I gave you a link at the beginning of the lockdown to keep your fitness levels high, and to add to that your own PE teachers will be doing fitness sessions during Ramadan.

Next week will see the beginning of Ramadan and we will be starting some new initiatives before Ramadan begins. The Zoom sessions for each subject will be increased to two a week and we will be beginning a little later so that people are used to them.

I will also be sending out some Independent Study Packs. These are for families to use as they wish and are extra to the teachers’ work. They are mixed activities of English, Maths, Science and Social Sciences and can be completed individually or together with parents. They are not for sending back to school, they are for use in the house. Enjoy doing as much as you can. You will be getting them at regular intervals.

For those few parents who express a view that we should be doing more, let me say from experience of forced closures, it is like running a marathon or learning to swim. You don’t start a marathon with a sprint and you don’t learn to swim by jumping into the deep end. School closure is traumatic enough for pupils so it is better to start gradually with work and not overwhelm young children with a huge amount of work from day one.

The Zoom sessions are going well so just bear with us as we support your children, our pupils, in the best way possible.

Stay safe and indoors.
George Bowery
